Week 10 / Quiz 8 / Optimization

This week we've been working on optimization, so the quiz will be a little different because optimization takes such a long time.  Your quiz grade will be 3 components: +4 individual quiz (Newton's method), +4 group quiz (optimization), and +2 lecture hand-ins (3.7 and 3.8).

You will spend most of recitation working on the group quiz about optimization, and you will have a short (one-question), individual quiz about Newton's method at the end of class.

The recitation notes AND the group quiz are posted to the Course Materials folder, so I suggest that you take a look at those before recitation.

By the end of this week, you will have seen every problem from the 3.7 Webwork except for #12 and #14 during lecture or in recitation, so that should help you complete that assignment.

P.S. I will extend the due date for the 3.7 Webwork until FridaySunday after I finish class tomorrow.  I hope you've already started, because it will still take a long time to complete that assignment!

P.P.S. I put together some Geogebra graphs to illustrate some of the 3.7 webwork for you! (#9 and #10 are better than #1 and #2)
